Northern Safari Circuit

Tarangire National Park

A spectacular wilderness famous for giant baobab trees, Tanzania's largest elephant population, and outstanding dry-season wildlife viewing.

Overview

A landscape without equal

Tarangire National Park covers approximately 2,850 km² (1,100 sq mi) in northern Tanzania and is one of the country's most diverse wildlife destinations. Established in 1970, the park is named after the Tarangire River, the only permanent water source in the ecosystem during the dry season. This vital river attracts thousands of animals, creating one of East Africa's greatest concentrations of wildlife outside the Serengeti. The park is internationally recognized for its massive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, rolling savannas, seasonal swamps, acacia woodlands, and exceptional birdlife, making it one of Tanzania's finest safari destinations throughout the year.
